Prague’s reputation as a culinary destination continues to grow, with four local pizzerias recognized in the 2025 edition of the 50 Top Pizza Europe ranking. The annual guide, considered one of the most authoritative sources on pizza outside of Italy, named Pizza Nuova to its top 50 list, while Sasy, Da Pietro, and Slice Slice Baby earned accolades as Excellent Pizzerias.
The top 50 list was announced earlier this week, with London’s Napoli on the Road taking the number one spot for the second consecutive year. While Paris boasted the most entries overall, Prague stood out as Central Europe’s most recognized city after Vienna, reinforcing its growing influence in the international pizza scene.

Pizza Nuova returns to the top 50
Pizza Nuova, located at Náměstí Republiky and operated by the Ambiente Group, ranked 27th on the 2025 list—its highest placement since 2019. Known for its traditional Neapolitan style, rapid-fire baking method, and use of premium Italian ingredients, the restaurant has long been a fixture on the Prague dining scene.
According to 50 Top Pizza, the restaurant “historically raised the quality of pizza in Prague,” offering classic toppings like mortadella, burrata, and 'nduja alongside a menu of pasta dishes and Italian wines.
What sets Pizza Nuova apart is its popular all-you-can-eat offering, which allows guests to sample an array of toppings served directly to their tables by staff. The pizzeria's spacious layout and high turnover contribute to its reputation for efficient and reliable service.
Three more Prague venues named 'Excellent Pizzerias'
While Pizza Nuova was the only Czech entry to crack the official top 50, three additional Prague pizzerias received Excellent Pizzeria honors, a designation akin to an honorable mention.
Sasy the Original, founded by Salvatore “Sasy” Iovino, offers a traditional approach to Neapolitan pizza in contrast to the trendier venues that dominate Prague’s food scene. Tucked away on the first floor of a building in the city center, the pizzeria focuses on balanced, well-leavened dough and simple toppings.
The menu also features montanarine, fried Neapolitan dough topped with sauce and cheese. With understated décor and a classic Italian wine list, Sasy reflects a more nostalgic vision of pizza culture.
In Holešovice, Slice Slice Baby takes a different approach. Operating from a tiny space, the pizzeria leans heavily into fusion flavors and bold experimentation. Its signature seasoning—Umami Stardust—appears across a variety of pies, including the Kevin (with smoked scamorza and gorgonzola) and Honey Boo Boo (finished with honey and Grana Padano).
Da Pietro, meanwhile, has become a favorite among younger diners. Known for its pop-style décor, open kitchen, and focus on quality ingredients imported from Italy, the restaurant combines traditional Neapolitan baking with a lively, social atmosphere.
Guests often opt for an Aperol spritz alongside their pizza, adding to the venue’s casual but curated appeal. While weekends can be hectic, the pizzeria is praised for its attentive service and consistent execution.
One more location deserves mention: Amunì, in Bruges, also earned distinction as an Excellent Pizzeria in this year's list. Owner Massimo Giuliana has opened multiple Amunì locations in Prague, with a new pizzeria debuting by Prague's Charles Bridge last year.
